81: Log in to your mailbox if you are already in the system, eg. you have just left a message for someone who did not answer their phone. Enter your mailbox number, then "#", then your password, then "#".
82: Select the Greetings submenu.
83: Log off Meridian Mail. Using "83" to log off is slightly quicker than just hanging up, and frees up the system sooner (there are only 12 lines available simultaneously for messaging).
84: Change password. Enter the new password, terminated with "#". Then re-enter the new password to confirm, terminated by "#". Then enter toe old password, terminated by "#". The default password is the same as the mailbox number, ie. the same as your local.
The password should be between 6 and 16 digits long. You can use the letters on the phone keypad to make up a word which may be easier to remember than a number. If you forget your password, Susan can set it back to a default value. People on shared locals should agree on a password, but not leave it at the default. It may later be possible for each user of a shared local to have their own mailbox and password, but at present there is only one mailbox per local.
If the password is not set it may be possible for outside callers to use your mailbox to make long-distance calls at TRIUMF expense.
85: Creating distribution lists. You may have up to 9 lists of up to 99 entries. To create a list, press "85", then the list number (1-9), then "5". Then key in the mailbox numbers separated by "#". To delete the last entry, press "0#". Press another "#" to terminate the list. To check the list, press "85", then the list number, then "#", then "2" to play the list. There is no way to edit a completed list. "76" may be used to delete the entire list. System-wide lists may be created by Susan.
86: To go to a particular message, press "86", then the message number, then "#".
89: Set personal name. Press "89", then "5" to record your name, then "#". Your personal name will be used in distribution lists, mailbox messages, etc. and should be set before you send messages.
Get online help for the message commands.
80: Select the Mailbox Options submenu.
Terminator key, used to stop recording, to terminate a password, etc.
